Attending the NSW Export Awards night was an inspiring and insightful experience, highlighting the incredible talent, innovation, and resilience of businesses across New South Wales. This prestigious event brought together a diverse range of industries, all contributing to the state's thriving export sector.
As I walked into the venue, there was a palpable energy in the room. The evening began with the mingling of industry leaders, government officials, and entrepreneurs—all sharing stories of their journeys in expanding Australia's global footprint. The atmosphere was one of optimism and recognition of the crucial role Australian exports play in driving economic growth and innovation.
The formal proceedings began with speeches from key stakeholders, recognising the extraordinary achievements of the finalists.
Each award category celebrated businesses making a difference, whether through groundbreaking technology, sustainability practices, or creating job opportunities in rural and urban communities.
One of the most memorable parts of the night was hearing the personal stories of the award winners. These businesses have overcome obstacles, navigated complex international markets, and thrived in highly competitive global industries. Their passion and commitment were evident, inspiring the entire room to think big and strive for continuous growth.
We sat on a winning table with TAFE NSW who are exporting eduction and Humanitix who donate 100% of their profit ($10M annually) to humanitarian charities and spoke about putting the compassion into capitalism in their acceptance speech. So awesome to see so many women in leadership being recognised and leading in their own feminist way! I can't begin to tell you the impact it has on you, when you hear an acceptance speech by someone you can relate to. The welcome to country by Aunty Yvonne Weldon was very moving and heartening to hear of how trade can be achieved and sustainable across deep time without greed and while caring for country. It's not only possible but has been that way for a lot longer than the industrial growth society and system has even existed.
Congratulations to Planet lighting for winning the award of exporter of the year and who provided innovative lighting for the Paris Olympics and Michael Cassel Group who produced Hamilton the musical for Australia and south east Asia! I am really proud of my husband and the team at Bueno Analytics for a nomination in the Premiers NSW Export Awards and they work they do, reducing the worlds carbon footprint.
It was clear that exporting is not just about financial success; it’s about contributing to a more connected and sustainable world. Many of the businesses highlighted have a strong focus on environmental and social impacts, showcasing how innovation can be used as a force for good. This aligned with my own values of regenerative and life-sustaining practices, both in leadership and business coaching.
The NSW Export Awards reminded me of the importance of celebrating these milestones, not just for the individual businesses but for the broader Australian community. These success stories inspire others to pursue their own ambitions in international markets, contributing to the resilience and growth of our economy.
Overall, the night was a fantastic celebration of Australian innovation, diversity and entrepreneurship, and it was a privilege to be part of it. I left feeling both proud and motivated, knowing that the future of Australian exports is in capable and forward-thinking hands.
